What is SpaceX?

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation is an American aerospace producer and space transport services company. It is famous by the name SpaceX. The privately funded company was formed in 2002 by entrepreneur Elon Musk and is headquartered in Hawthorne, California.

What are the objectives of SpaceX?

The objectives of the company are reducing space transportation costs and aiming colonization of Mars. With these aims company manufactured Falcon launch vehicle series and the Dragon spacecraft family. The company has succeeded in developing technology that powers its boosters to land safely on ground or water after competing launch mission. This time too, the booster will land after the mission.  So far the company has completed eight successful landings, five in the ocean and three on land. The company has thus succeeded to reuse rocket parts against the normal practice of jettisoning the rocket parts after each launch.
